A day without the Internet

The Internet has given society many wonderful things. It has allowed the World Wide Web to work, allows files to be transferred and so much more but has it really gotten to a point where everything we do has to be done online.

The first example is Facebook. I am aware lately so many people are moaning, begging even, about being accepted on my Facebook account or I simply am not friends with them. I am not sure how that works but surely that must mean I chat and only do social things with my friends online. In fact, let me find out.

Picking the right host

For the last 8 years, I have hosted this very website on so many websites that if Tweaked for your Pleasure was a whore it would have too many sexually transmitted diseases and likely would be laying on the floor dying while trying to pass on its last breath. Picking the right web host is very important as your website WILL depend purely on how good your web host is.

I am sure if you have looked around for a web host before what you roughly check for is speed and price and I would bet that most people will not look for more than that. So today I am going to talk about what I look for in a web host so that if you are looking for a web host you will not get screwed over.

Saving bandwidth

If you have ever run a website, you may have run into the issue in which you have run out of bandwidth and either you get overcharged like hell or you get cut off. Well, lucky enough there are quite a few ways that you can save bandwidth and you can see quite a lot of these being applied on Tweaked for your Pleasure. So here are Snat’s tips for being a cheap arse and saving bandwidth.

Compression

This goes without saying. Use compression. If you are using a major CMS or forum script, chances are you can just set up compression within the control panel. All you have to do is set up compression (such as gzip) and it will help you save bandwidth quite a lot. There is a trade-off in that this will use more CPU usage which may piss your web host off but in most cases, it won’t.

Snat’s Top Five Games in 2010

And here we are again as promised in Snat’s Top Five Movies. Now I am not much of a gamer but I have owned a few gaming consoles during my time and of course, I have liked certain games over others and as promised I am going to list them below.

So, let’s start first at number five and work our way down.

#5 – Final Fantasy IX

Ff9 Box Art

Final Fantasy IX was originally released on the PlayStation console and just like the other Final Fantasy games it starts with a simple plot which then expands into a quite complex plot.

The game is based around a Princess called Garnet who escapes from the castle she lives in and joins up with a group of bandits who were trying to kidnap her anyway. Her guard joins her who does not agree with what she is doing but follows anyway as a part of his duty.

Top five favourite movies

Hello to all Internet stalkers and random peeps, today I bring to you a different style of article for once. Rather than just rant about how I hate something or something along those lines, I am actually going to say some things I actually like.

Now, this will be three different articles and each one will cover a different top ten the three I will be covering are listed below.

My experience with IntenseDebate

Well, I might as well post this seeing I have used it for a while now I thought I would do an article on it and what I felt about it.

To be honest that to start with IntenseDebate didn’t suit any of my needs at all but now using it overtime, it got to a point in which I honestly can’t see nothing wrong with it and don’t know why I removed it the first time anymore. I first looked into IntenseDebate after I installed the WordPress plugin qTranslate to have Tweaked for your Pleasure in both English and Hebrew.

Sadly, over some time, the comments started to merge into English and Hebrew. This was because qTranslate couldn’t support comments in two languages so it never had an idea on how to do that so it just displayed them both. While this was fine for people whom could read both languages, my “visitors” got to the stage where neither of the two could read the other language.
