TL;DR: I expected to go in and watch an alright film with Jim Carrey enjoying himself and having a few laughs but I did not expect such a great film.
Welcome to my film reviews! I’m here to share my thoughts and opinions on the latest releases and classics. Join me for honest and personal critiques.
For anyone that has a Netflix account you will know how easy it is to get lost in an endless amount of films and TV series so expect quite a few reviews to come out – although I am looking to change how these emails are sent out for those that ain’t interested in reviews.
Anyhow, this review is about The Dictator which is a comedy about a brutal Dictator of an eastern African country called Wadiya who is your typical sexist, anti-western and antisemitic leader who want to develop nuclear weapons to wipe out Israel … although he isn’t really good at doing anything and has an uncle that wants to kill him.
This review has spoilers – seriously do not moan about it if you read this.
I have finally had the chance to see the new Superman V Batman movie and while I do feel the movie was not bad and was an interesting watch I can not help but feel there was a couple of things that really annoyed it for me and ONE major thing that killed the movie for me – Lex.
So the plot is pretty simple which resolves around Bruce (Batman) feeling that Superman (Clark Kent) is an all too powerful creäture from outer space that even if there is a slight chance of Superman turning against people who it might be taken he will do and thus must be dealt with. At the same time Lex feels the same and tries to get a weapon created so that he kill Superman and other aliens that come down one day.
A film about giant robots beating up aliens … and it worked.
When I first heard about this film from my brother I originally thought it would be okay at best and surprisingly the film surprised me on how good it was. The film is about a “war” that is happening between humanity and what they call “Kaiju”.
When people first fight them they basically go all out and although they win they learn they need to create a new weapon and this weapon, the Jaeger, is what the film is about – a bunch of Jaegers and Kaiju beating each other up and to cancel the up and coming apocalypse of humanity.
So finally Superman has a reboot like Batman did and to sum it up in a few words – if you are a fan of Superman I would recommend to go and watch it.
The Man of Steel is the reboot of Superman who is an alien that comes from a planet called Krypton just before it blows up and ultimately ends up on Earth after being sent there by his parents.
With the Man of Steel reboot we get to see more of “Clark” then we do of “Superman”. What I mean is this film is not about Superman going around punching everything but rather seeing Clark as he focuses on what it is to be human and should you do the right thing or not – something that people can actually relate too.
