Referral, or better known as affiliates are quite a risky business setup as you have to rely that any person you send to someone else that you would be paid for it. As I am sure some may tell but affiliate marketing is where quite a lot of income is made (and myself included).
While I have little interest in reviewing any affiliate services, the only one I am going to review is the one that is found at Co.CC. I have written about Co.CC before (such as: How to make the perfect e-mail address), have used it myself for so many throw away websites or “in creation / trial” websites (even Just a Community and Post2Trade used Co.CC at one point) and can personally say that Co.CC is a very good service.
However one thing I have never bothered with on Co.CC was the affiliate section. Sure I did sign up to it but I never did try to market it however one thing I did forget about was that I added my referral link to a guide called “Domain Setup Guide” on a free forum host that I used to use in the past for Ellisfamily.TK.
The main reason why I never bothered with Co.CC affiliates was that I thought it was scammed much like the 000webhost affiliate system I used. Well the other day I decided to log into my Co.CC affiliate account and was surprised to find out I had $4.50 in there. I then decided I might as well cash it out so I did and a few days later I had a payment from Co.CC for $4.50.
Now I am not going to show my whole PayPal account but here is a very tiny screenshot showing the payment.
Sorry, this image no longer exist.
Might be worth it in the future to think about marketing Co.CC domains – even more if you run something like a web host.
Until next time, farewell.
