It shouldn’t be a surprise that I am a fan of fast food. While I may not order as much as I used to, there are times I desire something such as the KFC boneless dip meal or something from McDonald’s that comes with a dip. Surprisingly, it seems half the time, those companies don’t believe dips are a part of the order.
To tell a story, the other day, I ordered a five-pound meal from McDonald’s: the Mayao Chicken Burger, Salad box, chicken nuggets, water, and two dips. I remember waiting for a stupidly long time for my order to be made and when it did I was given everything but the dips. As you would expect I spoke to the front staff about the mistake only to be greeted with they were sorry with the mistake but the dips are extra and they can’t provide them for free.
With this I thought maybe they didn’t understand so I showed the receipt saying I wasn’t given the dips and I was just fobbed off. The same happened when I ordered the boneless dips meal from KFC using Uber Eats. I can’t blame the driver as they didn’t (nor should they) check the bag but with this order, the staff at KFC didn’t put in any dips that were picked. You would think contacting Uber Eats would resolve this but they refused to provide any refund as “dips aren’t included in the meal” – why the fuck do they call it a “boneless dips” meal if dips weren’t a part of the meal?!
I could understand if this was a mistake that happens a bit but imagine how often this happens. While a dip at McDonald’s does cost 20p imagine if it happens 100 times – that is £20. Seeing an average McDonald’s could serve 3000 people a day (if not many more) and let’s say half of them ordered a dip, McDonald is already looking at £300 for doing nothing at all.
Look it isn’t hard. I understand it can be very busy and it is hard work but you are following a checklist of what should be in the bag and it isn’t hard to double-check that it is getting easier nowadays to just not order anything at fast food places which would be better for me anyhow.
