Scammers are idiots

This post is written from experience a while back but I have written it after seeing a post from “ThisisDanno“.

I honestly don’t know why scammer even bother trying to scam people nowadays. Sure, I have had my share of scammers actually winning but this one relates to the “Server Scam”.

Basically, it means that a scammer will signup to a webhost that is selling a server and will pay for about 6 months in advance using PayPal (That is important). A few months in, the scammer then does ask their credit card company that they didn’t do it (You would think that the CC company would see that they “missed” it for three months, but hey who cares). Now, what happens it that PayPal will (Mostly by default), refund the person (They are scare shitless of the CC companies) and refund the scammer’s money and then leave you in the dark until you contact them.

Now, what that means if that you have now losted up to 9 months profit (Remember, three months they had & six months they signed up for) which you now have to paid to PayPal. If you debate it, PayPal locks your account down so you can’t do anything (That even means paying) and then will keep bugging you to pay.

Mean while, if you close down that scammer’s server, you will often get a ticket or whatever moaning why it is down and then they go off posting bad things about your service while often bullshitting along the way.

I have seen this scam many time and it was due to this why I no longer allow people to pay in advance and fuck knows why I still allow PayPal for but I guess while the public uses it, you much too. I have seen this ruin business, even my own nearly and sadly that it ain’t possible to always recover from it but do what I did, bitch at PayPal and much as you can.

However, it actually went well for me at the end. The scammer, when signed up used a PO box and I ring up the company that owns it and according to their TOS, it said that if it is used for illegal reasons, your details can be given out to local police etc and the other party. I got the address, ring up and some teen’s parents answered and they was very, very, very mad. After talking with the parents, the scammer now pays £10 a week until the bill is all paid. The server was £50 / month so at least, I got back the £300, plus the £150 of it that was used so I actually made more profit :D

If you need help with fraud, do contact me as I do have some ideas that can help ;)

Facebook - The Home of Forgotten Passwords and Details

This was done in a hurry, so any spelling mistakes, please don’t bother me with.

As you may know that Facebook is a social network website in which people can contact other people (Such as friends) and interact with them. On Facebook people can add apps which add many new things onto the person Facebook profile such as interactive games, quizes and many other random things which stops people from doing work or whatever they were doing before hand.

When somebody adds an app that it gives access to that app access to your personal details that you likely have inserted into Facebook. That app can record all your details into a database and the creator of that app can then do whatever the person wants to do with it (Didn’t say “legally”).

Everything below this is eductional usage only. Read the rest of this entry »
