There are not many people in this world that impresses me or make even a tiny impact on my life, but I do have to say that one man has, still impacts me.
This man is only known as Matt Mullenweg, Automattic founder the creator of Wordpress (The open source blogging script that even this site uses).
I not only thank him for this wonderful blogging script. Sure, there are many other ones but none even comes close to the friendly community that Wordpress offers.
Now, I could go on about Matt’s life but I will leave that for another day. If you do not know, China (and a few other nations) has completely blocked access to Wordpress.com (A free hosted, while limited, Wordpress blog) much like they have blocked access to tons of other sites.
Now, if you remember that the likes of Microsoft and Yahoo has given into the demands of China (Such as limiting the keywords and giving out details of their users should China Government ask for it).
However while these massive companies have given up to China one man has said - NO.
Now, there are two sides to the coin such as China users might now be moaning that Wordpress has turned their backs onto their China users.
What I don’t understand is that bloggers around the world ain’t caring that Wordpress.com is blocked and why should they, it is only their possible traffic that is no longer there. But hear this, if you lived in China, would you want to give up all your rights to freedom of speech and live in fear that the Government is watching EVERYTHING that you do.
If you are a blogger or even own a website, pass on the message that the world don’t like what China is doing and that us bloggers will not be silent regardless from where we come from.
Oh, if you are a blogger from China and some methods to access your site in China, contact me. If this is someone from the China Government, please do leave a comment and don’t worry, we allow freedom of speech in the UK
