YouTube, 2004 - Present

With my website Wrights Productions developing homemade video and originally originating from the fundamentals of this website in 2005/06,I wanted to look at the world of Social Video Networking a.k.a. YouTube. Is it a bigger evolution as the industrial evolution or is it just an on-line media fad which will die away and let text, video and audio co-exist with a balanced medium?

Laptops of the past …

January 12th, 2010 Snat Posted in Computing, Jokes 23 Comments »

As you may have seen yesterday, I wrote up a blog article that compared the Ubisurfer 7 and the Dell Axim x30. Of course, these are not the only systems I have owned (although I never owned the Ubisurfer 7) over the years but sadly I have to say that the Dell Axim x30 is the only system that actually worked for me that is still active.

In the comments Adam Wright (Click here to see comment) said that I did not have any luck with technology of course he is wrong and below I am going to prove it by listing all the laptops (well, not all only the ones that have something “nice” I can say about it) I have/had and what happened to them. Some of the pictures below don’t actually match the model I had, but they look just about the same so please don’t moan they don’t match.

So is Adam right or not.

Netbook VS PDA

January 11th, 2010 Snat Posted in Computing 13 Comments »

Welcome ladies and gentlemen. On your left you have the Ubisurfer Netbook with a one year free GPRS Internet and on your right you have a Dell Axim x30 Pocket PC with no free GPRS Internet. Please be warned the the key information part is based on my views and experience, so don’t moan if it isn’t the same as yours.

So, lets get this fight under away starting with the Ubisurfer in the left hand corner.

Using more then one domain with qTranslate

June 7th, 2009 Snat Posted in Computing 4 Comments »

This was a question I kept asking myself and couldn’t work out how to do it. qTranslate (WordPress plugin) would only allow you to use subdomains for the different languages (such as en.domain or he.domain) or using paths (such as domain/en/ or domain/he/). For a while, I used the path for the different languages on Tweaked for your Pleasure however subdomains or the path sadly wasn’t enough for me.

Don’t buy from HP

May 31st, 2009 Snat Posted in Computing, Just listen 3 Comments »

I have used many different computers during my life and many different companies but the one I never had so much fucking problems with is Hewlett-Packard. I have a laptop that is made by Hewlett-Packard which after research was a model that was released with known problems. The main one being the internal nVidia card that heats up alot, which then causes all these problems.

In my case it all started with a wireless card that stopped working. Randomly it worked, randomly it didn’t. The wireless didn’t work on Windows Vista or Mandriva 2009 so I then started to wonder why the fuck it was doing. After research, I can now see it is related due to the problems they had and knew at lauch.

Reasons why domains shouldn’t use two nameservers

April 14th, 2009 Snat Posted in Computing, Internet 6 Comments »

Man, there is one thing I hate and that is where a domain I use goes down and the thing I really hate is when it goes down due to a basic setup of DNS with just two nameservers.

Not many people might not know, but there is an e-mail service known as “Rex.co.il” which I have used for reasons not to be explained but as of today, it went down. The reason it went down is

ns1.datanin.net.   ['212.25.111.139'] (NO GLUE)   [TTL=86400]
dns.edcsim.com.   ['212.25.111.129'] (NO GLUE)   [TTL=86400]

And who said Linux CLI can’t do everything

March 19th, 2009 Snat Posted in Computing 1 Comment »

I am not sure if you know, but Linux is an operating system that was based on UNIX and during it’s time, a GUI was developed for it. However, unlike other operating systems like Windows, Linux carried on developing the CLI along side with the GUI.

As you know, Linux is opensource (If anyone here tells me that Linux should actually be called GNU/Linux, please just close this browser now, I don’t care ;) ) and therefore anyone can add to it. Over time where the internet and tech changed wit the likes of video, the CLI didn’t change and there wasn’t a need to as the GUI could make this possible.
