Oh boy, another IM virus
Today, I was sent an IM from two different contacts (I ain’t replying to IM’s right now, but if you get a warning e-mail from me, you got this virus).
The message that gets sent is the following,
poto ? lol
http://site.***-images.net/photos.php?=yourname@domain.com
Rather then ignoring the message, send the person who sent the message via e-mail with a link to this post.
What to do if you got the virus ?
Now, the first thing is not to panic, it ain’t as bad as you think. Your first step is to run an anti-virus software that is fully up to date so that it can pick up this virus.
Once the virus is removed, it no longer is able to get your MSN password when you type it in, however it is still able to send messages from your account.
In order to sort this out, the only way that it can be done is to change your MSN Passport password. To do that, click here.
From what I could get from reversing the virus, is that once infected it logs all password inputs from the official MSN client. 3rd party IMs doesn’t seem to be affected. For this reason, right now it is only a Windows virus.
